Quick & Easy Makeup Look

I’ve wanted to do an everyday makeup post on the blog for such a long time, but I’ve always been too intimidated! I’m 100% NOT an expert in all things beauty and certainly don’t claim to have a flawless technique. Over the years, though, I’ve learned what products work for me and what don’t. Today, I decided to bite the bullet and share my go-to makeup look. It’s fairly quick and easy, and doesn’t involve a gazillion products. Let me know what you think! I always love helpful feedback to use for future posts!

I always start with my eyes and do my face makeup last. I do this because most eyeshadows I use will have a considerable amount of fallout. I always prime my eyes with an E.L.F. primer. I’ve talked in the past about how much I love it, but am kind of irked about how they are constantly changing the formula! I wish they would just stick with the original. I ran out of my favorite one, and picked this one up at Target. They again changed the formula from a nude shade to a white shade. It actually isn’t that much different from the original, but it does leave little white dots after applying, which you’ll probably see in the pics below. The rest of your makeup will cover those up, so don’t fret! Whew, that was kind of long-winded, hahaha, what can I say, I’m passionate about eyelid primer! 🙂

Next, I’ll comb out my eyebrows with a spoolie brush.

Then, I’ll fill them in with the Maybelline Brow Satin pencil in the shade, “Blonde,” using the pencil end only. I never want my eyebrows to be too dark, I’ve gone through that phase when I first started filling them in and it was not cute!

I’ll then set them with my FAVE brow gel, Benefit Gimmie Brow in the shade “Golden Blonde.”

These are my eyes with just my brows and eye primer. I’ve never been 100% satisfied with my eyebrows, but in this day and age of “Fleek” is anyone really?

Next I’ll go in with my favorite eyeshadow, the Too Faced Chocolate Bar! And yes, it really does smell like chocolate, so naturally, I’m in love!

On days when I don’t want to do a complicated eyeshadow look with a million colors, I’ll just use the middle two- the light pink shade, “Strawberry Bon Bon” and the matte brown shade next to it, “Semi-Sweet.”

I use a flat brush to pack the pink color onto my lid, and then use a slanted blending brush to blend the matte brown shade into my crease. I’ll smudge a little bit of the brown into my lower lash line too.

Next, I’ll line my upper lash line with the Smashbox Always Sharp eyeliner in the shade “Raven.” I talked about how much I love this product in this previous post. It really is an amazing product, especially if you’re someone who hates the stress of liquid liner.

I line my water line with this Neutrogena Nourishing Eyeliner. I don’t use the Smashbox one on the lower line just because it’s so pricey, I want to use it just on the top so it can last as long as possible.

After I curl the heck out of my lashes, it’s time for mascara! I discovered this one through Whitney Bates from the show, “Bringing Up Bates,” who talked about this as her favorite mascara. I have to agree! I just purchased the Maybelline Lash Sensational and I’m in love with it! I don’t say that about really any mascaras.

My other favorite mascara, the L’Oreal Telescopic, is pretty much gone at this point, but there’s just enough in there to use on my bottom lashes and separate the top lashes just a bit.

Mascara makes such a difference!

I would have taken pics of what face makeup I use, but lets just say my beauty blender (which I alway buy at Marshalls) and bottle of L’Oreal Visible Lift (in the shade, “Classic Ivory”) foundation are… well loved, LOL!

I also have recently been using a sample of the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in the shade, “Paaarty” as a blush and bronzer. My face has quite a bit of color naturally, so I try not to put too much on my face that’ll make it look too fake or cakey.

And that’s it! My biggest tip for doing your makeup is to have proper lighting and a good mirror, or 2! All throughout high school, I did my makeup standing up in front of a little mirror in my tiny closet which had the worst lighting ever. When my brother moved out, I started doing it at his desk in his room which worked out okay, but the lighting still wasn’t that great. For my birthday this year, I finally got a vanity of my own that sits right in front of my window. It’s pretty similar to this one. I use the flip-up mirror on it as well as my close up, lighted makeup mirror.

I love this robe so much! It’s so pretty and lightweight for hotter months. If I’m at home, I kind of live in robes, and always wear this one, or a thicker one if it’s colder when I get ready for the day.

What are some of your favorite beauty products? Have you tried any of the ones listed above??
